YOUR WINDOWS. YOUR WAY.

Less arranging.
More getting somewhere.

01 / A wider view

Your screen has edges.
Your canvas keeps going.

Keep the windows you need together. Move the canvas to bring another column into view, or make room for something new.

01

Move as you think.

Use your mouse, trackpad, or a shortcut to move through the canvas.

02

Keep things together.

Drop a window into a column. drft makes room and arranges the rest.

03

Leave room for later.

Bring the last column into the middle of your screen. There is still space to its right.

02 / A place for everything

Same windows.
A different point of view.

Stack, Split, or Tabs. Change one column while the others stay as they are. Try all three, then move the canvas.

How it works

Scrolling columns

Inspired by Niri

Your windows sit along a canvas that scrolls sideways. Bring another column into view without squeezing everything onto one screen.

Flexible splits

Inspired by BSP

Divide a column into smaller spaces, including two windows above one larger window. Each column keeps its own layout as you scroll.

Controls within reach

Made for pointing and clicking

Keep up to three windows stacked, split, or in tabs. Change their layout and width using the buttons right beside them.

03 / Make yourself at home

A familiar feel.
Your own rhythm.

No keyboard gymnastics required.

Drag windows and click to arrange them. Change your preferences in the app. No configuration files to edit.

A few things to know

Your shortcuts, your way.

Choose how you grab, resize, float, and move. Change a binding whenever you need.

A little give. A little glide.

Use your Magic Trackpad. Choose Natural Scrolling and add soft deceleration if you like.

Some windows need their space.

Keep a window floating, choose which apps to tile, and bring your floating windows back to the front.

Thought through, down to the gutter.

Small controls.
Just where you need them.

A width in one click.

Choose a third, half, or two thirds of your screen. No careful dragging required.

Keep your focus.

Bring the focused column to the center. Add a subtle rim to see where you are.

Learn by moving.

A guided tour gives you practice windows. Try the controls without moving your work.

Is drft available yet?

drft is in development and isn’t available to download yet.

What do I need to run it?

A Mac running macOS 14 or later. drft uses Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions to arrange windows and respond to your controls.

Will all my windows be tiled?

You choose which apps drft manages. You can also float individual windows and keep them outside the canvas.

What are Niri and BSP?

Niri is a scrolling window manager for Linux. BSP means binary space partitioning: dividing an area into two, then dividing those spaces again. drft adapts these ideas for Mac, combining a scrollable canvas with simple layouts inside each column. You can use it without learning either term.

Do I need to learn keyboard shortcuts?

No. Drag windows into columns and use the small buttons beside them to change layouts and widths. Shortcuts are there when you want them, and you can change the bindings.

Can I use it with a trackpad?

Yes. drft supports Magic Trackpad gestures, with controls for Natural Scrolling and optional inertia.
